Do You Feel Stuck?

   3 minute read

Have you ever known you need to do something…

… but can’t seem to pull it off ?

We know intellectually that it’s a good thing and it will be a benefit and I really should do it.

So what on earth is my problem?

Motivation can be a problem when I don’t value the outcome more than I value my comfort.

It’s when I want my present state left undisturbed.

Perhaps it’s a self- imposed expectation that I hold myself to but find it very draining.

A bit like fulfilling a law that I demand from myself but find it to be a harsh taskmaster.

We could go a little deeper and find that maybe I’ve tried before and now after a long time of

no progress, I find myself heart sick, lacking the emotional energy required to go again.

We might go a little deeper still and discover that I actually think other people are to blame.

This blame has dear friends called Denial and Excuse. Their mission is to keep me a victim.

Deeper still and another spectre appears called Fear. It could be fear of failure or …fear of

success .

This devious and debilitating visitor will stay quietly hidden for many a day until it is

uncovered, faced and ordered to leave .

In life, our greatest human need, when met, will help neutralise these and many other

obstacles.

This need is for …Loving Connections

from safe people who tell us the truth and help us grow.

Research shows that people do not grow or thrive while in a disconnected state.

If you find that you can’t go forward very well, first:

  • Take a look at your relationships to see if you have connections with people that will

love you, encourage and support your growth.

  • Be open to receive the love and encouragement from healthy safe people, then…

  • Take steps to be one of those people for others. (This may require a mindset change).

  • Remove any negative judgements and un-forgiveness that you might hold toward

    yourself.

  • Take a very small action step that will take you just one step forward.

  • Sustain the very small step until it becomes a habit.

  • Celebrate movement with kindness toward yourself.

Then take another look and you might find yourself…

…unstuck!
